Row Level Security on a report created on another Power BI Dataset

Hi there,

I have a Power BI dataset on which I have put row level security in place on a 'Region' field. This works fine in this report, but I have another user who has used this dataset as the foundation for their report. My expectation was that this 'secondary' report would inherit the row level security of the parent dataset, but this doesn't seem to be the case. When a user from one of the restricted regions tries to access the secondary report, no data is shown, rather than just the data they should have access to.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks.

RLS is inherited. Maybe you have forgot to give access to the parent dataset.

RLS is indeed inherited from parent datasets to their Live Connection children. It's hard to say what's going on there, I'd doublecheck the RLS DAX expressions and build a troubleshooting report page that I'd put both in the parent and children reports to try and pin down what's going on using simple visuals.
