So we have exteral agents.
When they are authenticated by the service we want to use their Agent Code as a parameter to instantiate a report that only shows their view of the data. They should not be allowed to change the parameter to another Agent Code.
Is this possible?
The 2 main reasons we want to do this are:
1. We only deploy one report dataset therefore we are not using up our Power BI Pro license space limit as quick as when using ultiple reports and datasets over the same dataset.
2. We only want the Agent to see their own performance.
Thanks in advance.
Hi @Sureshot,
Per my knowledge, it is not supported to set external agents for service in order to reuse a single dataset for multiple reports.

I'm pretty sure you can use the Power BI service live connection to connect to already published datasets.
What I'm wondering is how to parameterise that.
Any other thoughts?
We can define parameters in Power BI since April 2016 https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/deep-dive-into-query-parameters-and-power-bi-templates/
But how do we set them to a specific Agent Code when they arrive in and just as important how do we ensure the user cannot change the parameter?
Hi @Sureshot,
Parameter is used to dynamically change dataset based on user's selection. I don't think it is possible to ensure the user cannot change the parameter. Per my knowledge, I didn't find a solution to achieve your requirement. Maybe other experts have ideas.

Thanks for your input.
What about Azure AD B2B, custom authentication or Embedded Power BI apps in the service?
When the user comes into the report/dashboard via Azure AD B2B they are authenticated via an email address.
Could we instantiate a report/dashboard using their email address against a list of emails or similar in order to set the Agent Code?
It seems odd that no-one has encountered this before as getting external users their data is part of a continuous evolution of BI .
should post this in another section of the forum communities?
