Report Usage Metrics Report & Dataset

Hello All

I'm connecting to the report usage data set to undertake some additional analysis etc.

When i compare report views with the old style usage report all the numbers balance, however if you compare with the New Style Usage Report there are some differences, just 1 or 2 views for a small number of users, but these differences add up.

is this a bug in the system? are the new and old using the same underlying data set? because there doesnt appear to be any obvious distinction when you connect

Thanks Andy

HI @andybamber ,

The usage metrics are different between the new and old versions.  I will give two links below to the different experiences.  However, I can tell you that the roadmap currently has some "get the new to include some of the stuff from the old" so it becomes a bit more of an apples-to-apples experience.

Also note - the older usage metrics have a greater history length than the new ones do right now.

The old workspace usage metrics:

Monitor usage metrics in classic workspaces - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

The new workspace usage metrics:

Monitor usage metrics in the new workspace experience (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
