Report Download Option is Disabled

Hi experts,
I've a workspace where i've member access. Suddenly, one of my Report's download access is disabled. All other reports in that workspace can be downloaded.
Please tell me is this about the Admin portal -> Report Download option disabled??? Or something else?

Hi, @Professor666

Try going to the dataset for the report and clicking on the option ellipsis to see if the download option is available.

Hi, @Professor666

Do you mean that only a single report cannot be downloaded, but other reports can be downloaded? If so, you may want to check to see if you have set separate permissions for individual reports. If all of a sudden all reports are no longer available for download, your administrator may have disabled report downloads in the Administrator Portal, or your role may have changed.

@v-yohua-msft Sir, can you tell me one thing there should be "The entire organization" option enable for report download? Is this because the option is either disabled or access to specific group??

Hi, @Professor666

Sure. When administrator does not enable this option in the Admin Portal, users in the entire tenant or users in specific groups will not be able to download any reports. In general, the report download settings are turned on.
You can also take a look at the limitations on report downloads, which are not available when the report or semantic model is in special circumstances:

@v-yohua-msft i've checked this option the report downloads but having an empty report in the desktop

Hi, @Professor666

It's normal to have a report in the workspace that can't be downloaded but other reports can. Because it's really quite possible that the report triggers some kind of restriction and can't be downloaded. Perhaps you can contact the admin of the workspace and ask if he has acted on it, or republish the report (circumvent the restrictions).

@Professor666 Could be that or some other common reasons: Recover Power BI reports or models that you can’t download — DATA GOBLINS (data-goblins.com)

  • The report was created in the service:

    • Someone created the report manually (using the User Interface) and connects to a model in another workspace.

    • Someone created the report programmatically (for instance, using the REST APIs).

    • Power BI created the report automatically (for instance, it copied the report to a workspace that belongs to a later stage in a deployment pipeline)

  • You used the REST APIs to re-bind a report (changed which model it connects to as a data source).

  • The model has incremental refresh enabled.

  • The model uses automatic aggregations.

  • The model was modified via an XMLA endpoint.

  • Other scenarios described in the limitations in the Microsoft documentation.

I've also seen where people used an old version of Desktop to publish the report and they had to republish the report with a newer version of Desktop.

@Greg_Deckler Actually none of these scenarios . Issue is something else

It seems the large semantic model option is turned on for the dataset of this report. Turn it off & reload the browser page.

@gaurav-lakhotia its off actually this is not the issue i guess
