We have noticed that power bi service fails data refresh (manual or scheduled) when the data source is SQL Server 2008 R2. The refresh is successful for SQL Server 2012. The data source connection is successful in the gateway, how ever the manual or scheduled refresh fails with message "Unable to connect to the data source undefined."
We have multiple reports running successfuly when the data source is SQL Sever 2012; however the data sets that have data in SQL Server 2008 R2 seem to be having this issue. Is this a known limiation?

The resolution did not help in this case.
