Refresh doesn't work in Service on Excel file in Sharepoint

Hi all,

I have a Power BI report based on a Excel file in an Sharepoint folder.

When I make a mutation in the Excel file, it insn't shown in Power BI Service after refresshing manually.

I can see the mutation in Power BI Desktop after refressing.

Can someone help me out?

I have set the data source creditentials to OAuth2 in service, with the privacy level Organizational.

Hi @LHDatalis

If changes in the SharePoint Excel file aren't showing up in Power BI Service after a manual refresh:

  1. Check OAuth2 credentials: Ensure they’re correctly set and reauthenticate if expired.
  2. Verify SharePoint URL: Ensure the URL is correct and consistent between Power BI Desktop and Service.
  3. Permissions: Ensure the Power BI Service has access to the SharePoint file.
  4. Clear Cache: In Power BI Service, clear cache and refresh the dataset.
  5. Check Scheduled Refresh: Make sure it's set up and hasn't failed.
  6. Check Refresh Logs: Look for any errors in the refresh logs.
  7. File Locking: Ensure the SharePoint file isn’t locked or being edited.

These steps should help resolve the issue and ensure updates reflect in Power BI Service.

Thanks @Anonymous @Poojara_D12 @Ajithkumar_P_05  for your answers.
I think it costs a little rendering time to see a adjusment in the Excel file.

When I use a scheduled refresh every morning, the adjustments in the Excel are present in the Power BI report.

When I make a adjustment in the Excel file and refresh the report by hand in Power BI service, the adjustment is not present in de Power BI report.

I'm glad the scheduled refresh is working, but would have prefered a working manual refresh as well.

Hi @LHDatalis ,

Based on the knowledge, configuring scheduling of refresh and refresh now for Excel files that don’t already have scheduled refresh configured will no longer be allowed. Try to check the refresh.

I already tried this solution, but didn't work. I tried almost everything but can't get it to work

Ensure the file is closed while refreshing in Power BI Service, as an open file might lock changes
