Real Time Dashboard refresh, whenever data is changed.
Hello everyone,
I am looking for an idea on how to implement this project using Power BI. I have several Excel files, which should ideally be stored on a SharePoint so that different users can access and edit the file simultaneously. This Excel file will serve as the data source for a dashboard created in Power BI Desktop. The dashboard should automatically update whenever a change is made to the dataset, if possible.
I have already looked into this and found out that the report could be published in the Power BI Service, but apparently this does not provide real-time data updates, only a maximum of 48 updates per day at predefined times. From what I’ve seen in some forum posts, Power Automate might be a potential approach here.
My question is: Is this feasible, and if so, which additional applications do I need for this and what is the process?

Hello @timbckr812
To achieve more frequent updates, you can use Power Automate in combination with Power BI:
1. Create a Power Automate flow triggered by file changes in SharePoint.
2. Configure the flow to refresh the Power BI dataset when the Excel file is modified.
3. This approach can provide near real-time updates, typically within a few minutes of data changes
Please Store your Excel files on SharePoint to allow simultaneous editing by multiple users
Connect Power BI Desktop to these SharePoint-hosted Excel files as the data source

Hello @timbckr812 ,
@nilendraFabric 's approach is the best approach in your situation,
I would just leave a note on what you said regarding the refreshes, they are 48 in a premuim license, but with a pro license they are only 8.
so just take this into consideration before you take the decision.
