RLS Report Dataset

Does RLS still apply to a report built when connected live to a power bi dataset?

I have issues getting this kind of scenario working.

RLS  work when roles and report are in same file but not working when using separate dataset file. It looks like roles do not apply on report file. Any suggestions?

As the roles are part of the data model and security is set at the data set level, then yes, I would expect so.
