REST API Dataset Datasource returns gatewayID for cloud-based connections

Hello community,
I am using REST API to retrieve information about datasources used for selected dataset. It works fine, however I cannot figure out, why the REST API always returns gatewayId value even for cloud-based datasources which do not use gateway at all.

For example, I have a dataset with two datasources - Teradata and PowerPlatform dataflow.

  • Teradata datasource returns value through the Enterprise gateway so I retrieve information with our Enterprise Gateway ID.
  • PowerPlatform is a cloud-based datasource, so I do not retrieve data through the Enterprise Gateway. However, REST API returns also GatewayID. It does not match with our Enterprise Gateway IDs.

Could you please briefly explain why it returns gateway IDs even for cloud-based datasources? Where these gateways have been created?
Thank you for explanation!

Hey @Anonymous ,

this is an internal gateway fully managed by Microsoft, not visible (in the sense that we can touch it) to us.

Regards,

Tom
