Deploying an RDL via the PowerBI API works but when deploying using a Service Principal, the datasource in the reports no longer works until the user uses the 'Take Over' button. Uploading manually the exact same report in the GUI as the user works as expected. What can be done about this? It's essential in automated deployment scenarios to upload using SPs and the reports then need to work for all users who have rights to the workspace and reports.
I can confirm that this does in fact work fine as documented, the problem was mine and not constructing the API calls correctly.
