PowerBI Service Credentials storage (Import and Direct Query)

Hi everyone,

I'm using a Personal Access Token to get access to my Databricks database with PowerBI. Once everything is developed, the Reports are uploaded to the PowerBI service and a repository in Github. My questions are:

  • How are the credentials stored on PowerBI Service? (I'm not using gateways, it's a Databricks connection)
  • How are the credentials encrypted using the PBIPs feature to save my reports in GitHub?
  • How secure is it to have my credentials embedded in the reports uploaded into GitHub and PowerBI Service?
  • What's the best practice when working with multiple team members and online with reports connected to a Datawarehouse?

Thanks for any help.

Hello Everyone.

I'm still with this issue; I want to understand where's stored my PAT once I publish my PBIP and PBIX to PowerBI Service and GitHub, respectively. I read the following articles, but in none of them mentioned something related to storage security:

Thanks,

Julian

I can't find an answer either, and I am not technically a developer (we don't have one) so I'm stuck trying to figure this out on my own.
