Hi,
I am using the "Integrate" feature in a sharepoint list to produce a PowerBI report like this:
My questions are:
1. Can this particular report be found in one of my Workspaces in PowerBI? I could not find it.
2. In this report, can I bring in data from other sources, such as other sharepoint lists or even from SQL databases? I can do this in PowerBI Desktop.
3. In the sharepoint list, I have a calculated column and the results numbers. When this columns is brought into this Integrated PowerBI report, the column is treated as text. Is there any way to convert it to number in this PowerBI Report?
4. If I were to create a PowerBI report outside of this integration, is there any way for me to add the link to under "Visualize the list" section in the Sharepoint List?
5. It seems to me that the integrated PowerBI report for this list takes quite a long time (like 30 seconds+) to load. This Sharpeoint list only has about 1000 records. Any idea why? and/or improve on the load time?
6. PowerBI reports in general are refreshed at set times. Is this integrated PowerBI report run whenever the "Report" link under "Visualize the list" is clicked?
Thanks.

Hi @dc7669,
First of all, if you want to create a report based on a list the below option might be easier, with that approach you have a lot more options to edit and configure it to meet your requirements:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-sharepoint-online-list
The Visualize the List option is aimed at quickly creating a report, without having to edit the report itself and worry about access and refreshes. That's why it is more limited in functionality.
1. The reports and semantic models created through this SharePoint experience are stored in special, system-generated workspaces hosted in shared capacity. Users aren't meant to access these workspaces outside of the SharePoint experience
2. No, as far as I am aware it is limited and not capable of that.
3. No, as far as I am aware it is limited and not capable of that because you are unable to edit the columns in the semantic model
4. No, it is part of the Visualize the List feature. If you are creating a separate Power BI report it wouldn't show up on that menu item.
5. My suggestion would be to create a Report in Power BI Desktop with a connection to the list, this way you can compare the loading results.
6. No, I have seen instance where I clicked on the link of the report and the data didn't refresh. The docs are not clear on the specific schedule of the data refresh. The visuals can be refreshed once every 3 hours, , https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/power-bi/create-reports/service-quick-create-sharepoint-list#refre...
Hi @Expiscornovus ,
Thanks for the clarifications.
So, the "Visualize the List " option is a limited version of PowerBI. I do use PowerBI Desktop some already. Therefore, it will be better to use PowerBI Desktop to create the reports.
Thanks!
