Power BI report builder published a report to service but lost font settings

Hi Team,

I build a report via Power BI report builder and then published to Power BI Service.

I used a custom font when I Build this report and we want to use this font for further use. But when user export the report on Power BI Service the font lost and changed to some other font.

How can we set the font to ensure user can export the report with custom font?

Thanks for your any kindly suggest.

Hi @mshao

I think custom fonts are not supported in Power BI Service exports unless they are installed on the server. When exporting, Power BI Service defaults to standard fonts.

  • Use the "Embed fonts" option when exporting to PDF.
  • Stick to Power BI Service-compatible fonts like Arial or Segoe UI.
  • Export the report using Power BI Report Builder on your local machine where the custom font is installed.
  • Embed text as images to retain the font's appearance.

For long-term use, request custom font support via the Microsoft Power BI Ideas forum.

Hi @mshao
Welcome to the Microsoft Fabric Community forum.

To ensure that the font remains consistent in PowerBI and when exporting to PDF, you can do the following:

  1. In PowerBI Report Builder, make sure that you are using a font that is widely supported and installed on most computers, such as Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman.

  2. In the report design, set the font and size for each visual and text box explicitly.

  3. When exporting to PDF, consider using a PDF writer that supports embedded fonts, such as Adobe Acrobat or Foxit Reader.

  4. Make sure that the PDF writer is set to embed fonts when exporting the report. This can typically be done in the PDF writer's settings or options.

By following these steps, you should be able to ensure that the font remains consistent when publishing to PowerBI Service and when exporting to PDF.

Thanks
