I have added a sharepoint data source to an on-prem Power BI gateway using Oauth2 authentification mothod. Everything looks fine at the beginning, data refresh works most of the time. However, the data source connection suddenly fails consecutively. The error message is as beblow:
{"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_InvalidConnectionCredentials"....
Upon checking, there is nothing wrong with credentials or sharepoint access. I temporarily fix the issue by editing the data source in the gateway and update Oauth2 credentials with the same login. But the same type of issue will occur again some weeks later.
Hi @Jeanxyz ,
Based on the information, you can follow these steps:
1.Check if there are any network or firewall issues that could be blocking the connection.
2.Try to use a different authentication method, such as Anonymous authentication or Windows authentication, to see if the issue persists.
3.You can update Gateway to the latest version.
4.You can check if there have been any recent changes(for example: credentials, data sources, etc.).
Best Regards,
Wisdom
The same issue occurred again on Dec. 24th morning, I have the impression that the Oauth token is only valid for 30 days, users need to re-login to refresh the data source connection.
There is an article explaining how Oauth token works. https://www.vuepilot.com/support/article/microsoft-power-bi-authentication-information/
In my case, I can not change the connection method for a sharepoint data source and I'm hesitant to ask for a special account with unlimited token expiration duration - this will increase the credential admin workload. So I'm a bit stuck here.
