Power BI direct query and auto created refresh schedule

I published a Power BI report with a direct query to a tabular model hosted on Azure Analysis Services.

Everything works well in real time but I would like to understand what gets updated by the automatically created dataset and automatically created hourly refresh schedule in Power BI

Hi @jacquikelly,

The Dataset is only a cache  for refresh which you could see it in Settings. You could refer to the picture below.

The schedule refresh hourly will update the data source which may be changed in Azure Analysis Service.
