I have published Excel workbook to workspace (app.powerbi.com) via OneDrive for Business
When I am trying to filter data or refresh data I get this error:
"We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook.
The following connections failed to refresh: my_tabular_model_name"
When I open this workbook in Excel the connection to my tabular model is working fine, but this connection is not working when I publish workbook to my workspace. What should I do?
Hi @tuulia ,
For data sources such as Excel workbook are somewhat special. When create a connection from Power BI right to your workbook on OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint Online,a dataset is not created in Power BI. To successfully configure a refresh plan, your workbook has connections to external data sources that load data into the Excel data model.
For your error, the following may be the cause:

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and related operation screenshoots. Looking forward to your reply.

I'm not sure what I have to do next.. I have created a excel workbook-report with tabular model data connection (Get data -> from database -> from Analysis Services) . I published this report to One Drive Business and then uploaded it to my PBI workspace. And now I need a way to refresh my workbook data/use slicers in app.powerbi.com.
Hi @tuulia ,
By your description, this involves the concept of OneDrive refresh, first refer to the following process.
For data imported from OneDrive refresh, the powerbi service will perform a OneDrive refresh. power BI checks approximately every hour if the datasets of files connected to OneDrive or SharePoint Online need to be synchronized. So my suggestion is to re-upload the report to OneDrive. pbi will automatically sync the corresponding latest data.

I think this is the problem "the datasets of files connected to OneDrive....". When I publish my workbook to my workspace via One Drive no dataset is published, only workbook.
Should I create workbook connection some other way than Get data -> from database -> from Analysis Services? Apparently wookbook requires some dataset if I want it to refresh in app.powerbi.com?
I can't find any solution to this excel-workbook problem.. So it's not possible to publish a excel workbooks with tabular-connections to pbi-workspaces? This is BIG fault
