Power BI Works in Local Intranet Without Internet

AS Per URL : https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-frequently-asked-questions/

Is Power BI available on-premises?

No, Power BI is not available as a private, internal cloud service. However, with Power BI and Power BI Desktop, you can securely connect to your own on-premises data sources. With the On-premises Data Gateway, you can connect live to your on-premises SQL Server Analysis Services server, and other data sources. You can also scheduled refresh with a centralized gateway. If a gateway is not available, you can refresh data from on-premises data sources using the Power BI Gateway - Personal.

You can also view on-premises SQL Server mobile reports with the Power BI iOS apps:

1. According to this It Will not work in an Intranet Environment or without cloud service. Am I right?

2. From Mobile there is two options 1) Connect to Power BI 2) SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services.  what deoes this means to connect SQL server 2016 Reporting Services?

3. I want to use Power BI dashboard without Online or without internet. Is it possible?

@butimran

The conclusion is with SQL server 2016 SSRS services we can integrate Power BI Reports and dashboard without Azure or online account. Am I right? uh, this depends on what you want to do, but "yes" there is a path to do this all on premises.

Power BI Desktop version is Simple client Tool to connect with different Data sources and we can design reports and dashboard.

The Desktop only creates Report pages, Dashboards are an element in the Service only.

PBIT is a template file.

Publishing is specific to the Desktop -> Service relationship. You can download a PBIX to an SSRS 2016 server currently. And it will open in Power BI Desktop. The long term goal (blog) is to have a browser experiance for the end user to only view the reports.

How we can integrate these reports with our system. for example .Net desktop or Web Applications.  first is it possible? I'm not 100% on the developer aspects, but I believe any internal embedding would require the Service. External facing embedded would require using "Power BI Embedded" - which is a seperate Azure Service. But you can only use that for external facing websites.

Last thing is Real Time dashboard is possible without online services. - Not to my knowledge.

There are two components to Power BI - The Desktop, which is a free download and you load that onto your local machine. It allows you to connect to data sources, transform your data and build reports. The Service - is the (Saas) offering that is cloud based, and requires an internet connection. This part of the tool has the ability to build reports and connect to some data sources, but you can't transform or model your data in any way. The main part of the Service is the sharing part. It is how you share all your content across your organization.

SQL Server 2016 is going to be the platform by which Power BI is consumed on premises. As such, the Power BI App can connect to your SSRS server. This is also where Power BI Desktop files can be uploaded. It is currently in v1, and the long term goal is currently in preview if you want to see what it looks like. Here is a recent blog post from the SSRS team on that topic.

3. I want to use Power BI dashboard without Online or without internet. Is it possible?

Yes, using SSRS 2016 and byond. The full solution won't be built on premises through SSRS 2016 until mid 2017 as the blog hyperlinked above outlines. They are hoping to have a v2 technical preview ready in January (also in the blog)

The on-premises solution will use the Power BI Desktop, and will not mirror the Service in terms of certain capabilities. But SSRS will be the platform on which Power BI is supported for only on-premises solutions.
