Hi @all,
I’m currently encountering an issue while publishing a Power BI Template App. The data source for my reports is Excel files stored in my organization’s SharePoint. I’ve parameterized the source paths so that other users can connect to their respective data sources during installation. Privacy is set to "Organizational", and the authentication method is "OAuth2".
I followed the official Microsoft guide: Create template apps in Power BI - Power BI. to build and configure the template app. However, after generating the test link, the app didn't get installs & throws the following error:
I have perform few checks:
1. Edited data source credentials directly in the workspace settings.
2. Successfully refreshed the semantic model in the template workspace — no issues observed.
3. Verified all parameter default values — everything appears valid and functional.
4. In the "Create App" configuration:
Authentication method is set to OAuth2
Access level is Entire Organization
5.Error status code is 200, which makes it harder to pinpoint the failure.
Despite these checks, I’m still stuck with the import error. If anyone has encountered a similar issue or can help identify what I might be missing, your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hi @navneet_07,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.
Can you confirm what type of connection you're using to access the Excel files is it the SharePoint Folder connector or the Web connector?
Thanks & regards,
Prasanna Kumar
