Power BI Service Report - couldn't load the data for this visual

Hi,

My Power BI report contains both DirectQuery and Import tables. I'm also using dataflow source (created in Power BI service) as sources for some of my tables.

Everything is working perfectly in Power BI Desktop.

However, each time I publish the report to the service, the visuals that have data from the DirectQuery tables don't work. These visuals have this error: "Couldn't retrieve the data for this visual".

I also have a red bar on the top of the report screen that says "this feature is not supported. Please make sure you have installed the latest version of the gateway".

Is there anything I can do to solve this, without transform the tables to Import Mode?

Thanks,

Maria Buzaglo

Hi @collinq ,

In fact the gateway version was not up to date. Now it is up to date.

I refreshed the dashboard and didn't work.

Any other suggestion?

Hey @MariaBuzaglo ,

What is the full error that you are getting now?

Hi @collinq ,

The message is this:

MariaBuzaglo_1-1674554716245.pngMariaBuzaglo_2-1674554740345.png

And on top I have this message:

MariaBuzaglo_3-1674554785567.png

I have Premium per user license.

I thought the reason could be the time it takes to get the data to the visual since it is receinving data from a table that is in direct query mode... But not sure if this makes sense.

Thanks,

Maria

Hello @MariaBuzaglo , did you find a solution?

I got the same issue. My PowerBI use a DirectQuery against a Dataflow. Same error as you (excep for the gateway warning)

thx

Hey @MariaBuzaglo ,

It might be done to test from scratch then.  You already stated that you updated the Gateway so that message is probably a "ghost from before".  So, I would upload the report again from desktop and see what happens and see if it works all the way through.  You could also clear your browser cache to see if that is the issue.

Hi @MariaBuzaglo ,

If you have a gateway that is not updated regularly then you can get out of sync between your Desktop version of Power BI and the gateway version.  Based on the error message that you gateway may be an older version I think that the best route to fix this issue is to get your admin to update the gateway.  And, then you can try again.
