Power BI Report with Semantic Model Refresh Failures

Thank you in advance for looking.

• My Power Bi Environment has 7 Active Workspaces with around 60 reports.
• Each Workspace is setup based on the Permissions needed.
• We have been experiencing an issue with backend table refresh failures...causing the report refresh to also fail (1-3 a day).
• Right now, each day, I look at each workspace with Semantic Model selected in the Filter.
• I scan the Semantic Models for the Red Triangle showing a failed refresh.
• It doesn't take long to do, but what I would really like to do is create a report that captures the latest refresh status (successful/unsuccessful) accross all workspaces.
• My management team would also really like this view so if a report looks off they can verify if the report refresh failed.
• It would also be really cool if I could keep a count of how many times a refresh failed.
• Any insight or suggestions you have would be very welcome.

Hi @Gusd8 ,

You use power automate flows to capture those details to excel file and you build your custom report on top of that data.

To avoid refresh failures refresh your datasets/dataflows one by one most of the time it will fix the issue.or you change your schedule refresh timings even it will help.

Based on your description, you want to create a report to show the refresh of different semantic models.
The first way you can do this is by looking at the refresh summary for power bi. the Power BI Refresh Summary page in the Power BI Management Portal allows you to control and understand the overlap of refresh schedules, capacity, and potential refresh schedules for Power BI Premium capacity. Here you can export to excel file and then analyze it.

In the second method, you can use rest api to get the name of the library and refresh history. Then use these to create reports.
