Power BI REST API refresh completes successfully, but dataset is not fully refreshed

We're experiencing what appears to be an issue with Power BI dataset refreshes.

We refresh our dataset daily by triggering a refresh through the Power BI REST API. The refresh completes successfully every time, and the status is always Completed. However, we've noticed that, on occasion, the data does not appear to be fully refreshed. Some records seem to be missing or outdated.

If we manually refresh the dataset afterward, the data is immediately corrected, suggesting that the API-triggered refresh may not always be processing all data correctly.

This is the request body we're using:

{ "notifyOption": "NoNotification", "retryCount": 2, "type": "Full", "commitMode": "transactional", "timeout": "00:20:00" }

Has anyone else experienced this behavior? If so, were you able to identify the cause or find a solution?

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Rodi123

Can you check the model refresh history? Sometimes the refresh will "complete" but there will be errors in the refresh history about specific tables not finishing successfully.

Hi. Before trying to check for issues/bugs, try going to the report after the refresh of the API happend and click on "refresh visuals" at the top right corner of the report canva or even a shift+F5. Some reports can keep cache or cookies with the most recent view of data. The data does complete and works but your browser won't show it right away. Let's validate this and then check if that didn't work.

I hope that helps,

We did, but it didn't solve the issue. When I manually refresh the set, it works again.

Ok. Are you running a refresh dataset in group or an enhanced refresh API request? Is the dataset stored at a dedicated capacity or is it a pro shared capacity?

That can say a little bit about the request.

Regards,

Dedicated capacity and when i see the refresh history in Power BI, i see enhanced.

Do you think that can be the problem?
