Hi all,
I have searched extensively online about this issue and nothing resolved it for me, hoping somoene can please guide me.
So, currently I have a powerbi file which is connected to a MySQL database on an onprem server.
I am able to access it with the power BI desktop with the credentials.
I downloaded the gateway and it shows connection successful only if I select skip test connection
If I uncheck the Skip Test connection and enter the credientials of the database which has full root rights, it gives me this error:
Please if someone could guide me on how to fix this I would immensely appreciate it!
Thanks!!!

Your gateway screenshot says "Not encrypted" but the error message suggests a failed attempt at an encrypted connection. This doesn't add up. Please clarify.
ALSO NOTE: MySQL support on the gateway is BROKEN after version 66.8 (or thereabouts) and Microsoft and MySQL shift the blame to each other.
Hi @gursimranbedi,
I'm afraid that if the MySQL connection is down, there is no other way to use it with gateway properly.
The on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge to provide quick and secure data transfer between My SQL and Power BI.
By using a gateway, organizations can keep databases and other data sources on their on-premises networks, yet securely use that on-premises data in cloud services.
Users in your organization can access on-premises data to which they already have access authorization. But before those users can connect to your on-premises data source, an on-premises data gateway needs to be installed and configured.
A stored credential is used to connect from the gateway to on-premises data sources.
Regardless of the user, the gateway uses the stored credential to connect.
For more information, you can refer to this: On-premises data gateway architecture
Hope it helps,
Caitlyn Yan

Hi,
I got it to work! For anyone else experiencing this - I just had to reboot my MySQL server machiene. Seems like a reeboot is nessecary for the MySQL Connector to get configured.
I'm using MySQL server 8.0.26 and it seems to be connected. I haven't tested the automatic data refresh yet.
But it shows connected.
Is there an alternative that I can use if MySQL connection is broken?
Thanks!
