Power BI Dataset

When your Dataset in Service crosses 7 GB, what best practices would you recommend in Permium? Please bear in mind that my objective is the solve these challenges:-

  1. UX Performance
  2. The increasing Dataset would hit the threshold one day.
  3. The refresh time sometimes goes beyond 12 hours.

A few things we have done are:-

  1. Date Intelligence
  2. Using Data Flow
  3. Used DaxStudio and optmized by eliminating unused columns, Change relationships based on memory etc
  4. Composite model - based on what are at an aggregate level and granular level.

Just a quick reply that comes up: have you thought about Incremental Refresh?

Sorry forgot to add. Yes, we have done that too. Not for every table but only for the fact tables.

Oké, so what is taking so long that it goes over 12 hours of refresh time? Is that for the dimensions? How big are they? What kind of source? Are there many PQ steps?
Can you elaborate on one of the main problems for example? The one that is taking the longest?

Hey @nickyvv thanks and sorry for the delay. We tweaked a little bit and made the composite model work.
