Hi,
I have an issue where the user who has configured a set of dataflows (connecting to SQL databases) has left the business and his account diabled. What I would like to know is, if I take ownership of these, would this cause any issues with any gateways or connectivity to the SQL database?
I've never worked with dataflows before and just want to be sure it wouldn't cause any issues if I took them over!
Many thanks
James

Hi. I don't think it will affect gateway sources unless the account connecting to the SQL Server is removed. It will be a good idea if you are added as admin or at least user of the gateway to manage refreshes. Taking ownership means that you will own the flow in order to Transform Data or Add new sources on the flow. You will also administrate the schedule refresh.
Even if it doesn't break anything, you should have an access to data if you are becoming owner because you might need to modify stuff sometime. It's important that the access to sources is known by the owner.
I hope that helps,

Thanks ibarrau,
I'm unsure if my credentials have access the the source system, i'm assuming PBI will use these to connect?
I'll ask our IT team and ensure my credentials have access 🙂
The thing is that the answer is "it depends" ^^
The sources have different ways to connect with credentials, like SQL Server can login with AD, DB credentials, etc.
The importante thing would be to have an account admin of the Gateway (just in case you need to edit or add a new source) and of course a valid credentials to your sources.
I hope that helps,
