Power BI Dataflow Using IP Address Not In Public Azure IP Ranges

I have a MySQL database on an AWS EC2 instance and was struggling to get my Power BI Dataflow to successfully connect.

I had what I thought was a solved solution (and it was originally) here: Solved: IP Address for Power BI Data Flow Not Working - Microsoft Fabric Community.

The issue is the next day after I had things working, my data flow couldn't connect anymore. After looking at my logs on my EC2 instance, I saw a new IP Address (52.159.212.197 one day, and the next day 52.159.212.198).

Neither of these IP Addresses show up in the list from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56519

So where are these IP Addresses coming from and how do I get a list of all the IP Addresses that my data flow might use in the future? Having to update my firewall rules everyday is obviously not a permanent solution.

Hi @jeremyt

I would highly recommend moving away from trying to find the IP addresses but rather install a Power BI gateway which can sit within your AWS Mysql database network and will make the data flow refresh via the gateway much more simple and successful.

Hi @jeremyt,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community, and special thanks to @GilbertQ  for prompt and helpful response.

Just following up to check if the suggestion to use an on-premises data gateway instead of relying on specific IP addresses helped resolve your issue.

If this approach or any of the responses helped address your query, please consider marking it as the Accepted Solution so it can assist others facing a similar issue.
