Power BI Capacity Usage Measures

Currently in Power BI Admin Portal Admin can view the capacity usage measurements like CPU, Memory, Direct Queries under Capacity Settings for a capacity node.

  1. Usage in last 7 days – Does this mean the retention period is 7 days?
  2. Shall the admin capture/export the usage data into a text/CSV file for further analysis for all the capacity nodes under the Tenant? If yes, please explain how to achieve this.
  3. Is there any other way to capture the CPU, Memory utilisation of the Power BI Premium Nodes?
  4. How to know that the current capacities are over utilized?
  5. How to know whether it require a scale out or scale up of capacity nodes based on the usage measurements currently available
  6. What are the measures(CPU, Memory, etc..) and dimensions (Workspace, Report, Time, etc..) currently captured?

Thanks

Hi @AnbuKannan2016,

As you mentioned, the data of usage measurements is restricted to 1 week. It is not available to pull this information on historical data. As I know, there is no direct way to export usage data into a text/csv file for further analysis. To further understand usage of Power BI and Power BI Premium in your organization, you could trace the Audit Logs.

Please download the whitepaper "Power BI Premium Planning and Deployment " for more details.
