Power BI App has been published but Power BI Pro user is unable to view the app?

Power BI App has been published but Power BI Pro user is unable to view the app? Why?
We are both Pro users. I can see from my side that the pbi app workspace has been published successfully to the App area.
But pbi pro user has nothing showing under their App area.

Note did enable   Admin Portal > Tenant settings > Content pack and app settings > Push apps to end users

Cheers Amy,  Thanks for the prod.  The app publish works but the My Workspace (me as admin) to My workspace (user) has not.

Both myself and the user have admin rights on both the report and dataset.  Both myself and the user have Power BI Pro licences.

How we came to be in this situation, and I believe that this is a bug, is that for the user the publish was not coming through as admin.  Moved up the scale of testing with the final being remove the report and re-publish.  But the removal of the particular report blew away all dashboards, reports and datasets within the users My workspace area!

Trying to publish afresh did not work at all.  lol.  That is why I went down the apps route which worked finally.

I have the feeling that pbi admin rights is not enough and that my logon does not have full 'Gods rights' on the network hence the issues.

Was waiting to post an close when I have solved the My workspace non-publish issue.  But lets close and move on.  At least the apps publish is working and gives the user 'Refresh now' capability as well, which was the aim.  Though full admin rights need to be granted to the user to do so.  Though I have not scaled back testing of the users security rights with this because that would piss them off even further 🙂

Hi  @garythomann ,

Does that make sense? If so, kindly mark my answer as a solution to help others having the similar issue and close the case. If not, let me know and I'll try to help you further.

Best regards

Hi @garythomann ,

Please check if this Pro user is member of your organization or specific group, and check the user's permission for app.

When publish app or update app, on Permissions, decide who has access to the app, and what they can do with it.

  • In classic workspaces: everyone in your organization, specific people, or Azure Active Directory (AAD) security groups.
  • In the new experience workspaces: specific people, AAD security groups and distribution lists, and Office 365 Groups. All workspace users are automatically given access to the app for the workspace.
  • You can allow app users to connect to the app's underlying datasets using the Build permission. These datasets will appear in dataset search experiences.
  • You can allow app users to make a copy of reports in this app to their My workspace.

Note: If your app relies on datasets from other workspaces, it is your responsibility to ensure all app users have access to the underlying datasets.

What's more, if an admin gives you permissions, you can install apps automatically, pushing them to end users. This push functionality makes it easier to distribute the right apps to the right people or groups. Your app appears automatically in your end users' Apps content list. They don't have to find it from Microsoft AppSource or follow an installation link.

Best Regards,

Amy
