Hi All,
Do you know how to automate some functions in PBI with Power Automate? I would like to set up a refresh of data whenever source files are updated, which I understand is a possibility. I would also like to automate publishing after data refresh or set up a cadence. I would like this to be automated without the button inside the Power BI report but if that is the only way around it, then it's fine.
Anyone can help with that, please? Thanks!

@ksab23 So, yes, there are triggers in Power Automate for when a file is created or modified in SharePoint Online, File System, etc. And there is also an action to refresh a Power BI dataset (semantic model) in the service. So you just need to connect those two and set the appropriate parameters. You would create this in Power Automate as a Cloud based flow or Desktop based flow depending on the trigger you want to use.
Hi @ksab23 ,
Power Automate can create workflows specifically for Power BI tasks. From selecting triggers to defining required actions and adding custom items, we'll cover all the steps necessary to create a seamless and efficient workflow. First, select triggers for Power Automate workflows in Power BI. Then, define the actions to be performed in Power Automate for Power BI. Finally, customise the workflow with conditions and actions. Detailed information is available in the documentation: How to Use Power Automate in Power BI (process.st), Use custom actions to trigger Power Automate flows - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn.
With Power Automate, you can automatically export and distribute Power BI reports in different formats and scenarios. This requires that you create streams in power automate, configure them accordingly, and also meet prerequisites:1)There is at least one workspace in the Power BI tenant that is supported by reserved capacity. This capacity can be any A1/EM1 - A6/P3 SKU. 2)Access to the standard connectors in Power Automate that come with any Office 365 subscription. Detailed information can be found in the documentation: :Export and email a report with Power Automate - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.
If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
