Hi,
On Microsoft page about PostgreSQL connector (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/postgresql) it says:
"Refreshing is supported both through the cloud in the Power BI service and also on premise through the on-premise data gateway. To refresh data from the Power BI service without an on-premise data gateway, PostgreSQL must be hosted in a manner that allows direct connection from the Power BI services on Azure. This is natively supported for PostgreSQL hosted in Microsoft Azure. For other hosting environments, consult your hosting provider about configuring your PostgreSQL for direct access from the internet."
We have a managed PostgreSQL database hosted by DigitalOcean that we would like to run reports off without a data gateway. It works ok with Power BI desktop but not when published in Power BI service ("The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure").
What exactly do we need to do or ask DigitalOcean to make sure the database IS hosted in the manner that allows direct connection from the Power BI service?
So far we've had this response from DigitalOcean when sending them the same quote (above) from MS website:
"You can open your database cluster to all incoming connections by removing all the trusted source entries and I can confirm that you do not have any IPs added now. so you won't be facing any issues."
Yet it still doesn't work. Anyone? 🙂
Did you ever find a workaround for this? We currently spin up a VM with a gateway and schedule refreshes but it's incredibly unreliable.
