Hi We have an direct query alarm dashboard in our control room that is set up with a browser refresh every 2 minutes for staff to monitor alarms. The staff have asked for the capability filter by certain sites when required, this functionality is fine but when the browser auto refreshes they lose their filter. Following a quick search I noted a persistent filter functionality is available in the online version.
We are currently running the Jan 21 serv version, is this functionality available on any more recent release?
If not how I can I enable the filter to persist ?
Hi @anthonyg1986 ,
Are you currently using Power BI Report Service instead of Power BI Service?
About how to use Persistent Filters on Power BI Service ,I have described above.
And if you use Power BI Report Service ๏ผcurrent version is not support Persistent Filters.

Hi The option to "Don't allow end users end user to save filters on this file in the power BI service " is not selected should it be?
Also I cannot see the other options on the top ribbon .
Is this due to our current version?
Hi @anthonyg1986 ๏ผ
No, this option should be left unchecked. When you check this option, the report that is published to the service disables Persistent Filters.
And on service, detail operation ,refer the below:
link:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/power-bi-report-settings
Keep the two not be choosed:
I create a sample:
visual and setting:(then publish)
Then use filter:
Reopen the report:
my desktop version :

Hi @anthonyg1986 ,
Please check if a persistent filter is applied to the report๏ผif you use it ๏ผall Power BI reports will now automatically retain the filters, slicers, and other data view changes that you have made.
To see persistent filters in action, simply head to any Power BI report that you have view or edit access to. You will notice a new button on the top bar that says โReset to defaultโ. As soon as you interact with the report (e.g. applying a filter or slicer), the button will light up and you will see the reset icon turn yellow.
You can disable persistent filters for reports in both Power BI Desktop or Power BI Service,
These two options provide the same functionality. If you have enabled this option in desktop, you would see this option in current report has been turned on when you check it on service. However, if you didn't enable this option when editing report in desktop, after publishing it to service, this option is turned off by deault, you could still turn it on on Service.
For more information, you can refer to this :Persistent filters in Power BI Service
