Hello,
I have a pbix file that I open in power bi desktop, upload to Service and refresh on service. When I download the refreshed file and try to open it on my local computer then it is saying I need a newer version of power bi. Please can you tell me how to stop this happening? I've had it happen to another file as well, but most files I have seem ok (the service refresh doesn't update them to a newer version of power bi).
(We can't just install the latest version of power bi due to our IT policies)
Thanks,
PW

There's not much you can do about that (apart from ignoring the message). Microsoft will frequently update the server version to the newest mashup engine. If you use older versions of Desktop you risk mismatch in the engine rules (and differences in the results). Microsoft even started to enforce a 18 month (ish) rule on desktop versions.
