Option to connect metric to report in app disappeared

Since last week, when I try to connect a metric to a report in a PBIapp, I get the message that I don't have any apps yet. In dutch: "U hebt nog geen apps".

The existing metrics that are connected to the reports in the app keep working fine, but connecting a new metric is not possible.

Did I miss something? The users of the metrics have no access to the workspace, so connecting to the report in the work space is no option. In our context metrics (connected to the reports in the app) have been a game changer.

Anyone any idea about the cause and the solution?

New observation, when creating a scorecard using Power BI Desktop I am able to see the apps and use those metrics.

For now I am using this way instead of creating the scorecards through the website.

This issue isn't solved - we remain unable to create new metrics from Apps, in service.

At this moment this issue seems to be fixed in the service. I can connect a metric to a value in a report in an app like I used to. So I don't have to use the workaround that Eric suggested anymore. It was a perfect workaround for me though.

Thanks Eric, this is a workable workaround!

Hopefully, the option comes back in the next releas of the service.

It does not feel logical to add a metric-visual te a report, just to be able to make or change a connection to a report in an app. But it works!

I am having the same issue, was able to connection 1 metric to an app yesterday after a lot of tries but most times it does not show any apps, same goed for my collega's.

This did work last week.

ps. I am also dutch, so maybe it is a regional issue.

Good to know we are not the only one with this issue! Hopefully someone knows how to fix this.

@avanvoornveld

It sounds like you're encountering an issue where you're unable to connect new metrics to reports in Power BI apps, even though existing metrics are working fine. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Check Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to create and edit metrics in the workspace where the reports and datasets are located. You might need to be a member of the workspace or have specific permissions granted to create and modify content.

  2. Workspace Settings: Verify the settings of the workspace where your reports and datasets are located. Make sure that the option to allow connections to the app is enabled. You can find this setting by going to the workspace settings and then the "Advanced settings" tab.

  3. Power BI Service Updates: Check if there have been any recent updates or changes to the Power BI service that could be affecting the ability to connect new metrics to reports. Sometimes issues like this can arise due to updates or changes in the service.

  4. Clear Cache and Cookies: Sometimes, issues with the Power BI service can be resolved by clearing your browser's cache and cookies. Try logging out of Power BI, clearing your browser cache and cookies, and then logging back in to see if the issue persists.

Hi John, I can rule out 1. Permissions and 4. Cache, but I am afraid I don't have the option "Advanced settings" in the work space (though I have the admin role in the work space).  About suggestion 3. : if an update of BI service is the cause, I would expect some others to experience the same problem.

I will ask if the admin of the tenant changed a setting.

Stil the message "you don't have any apps" is strange, because (fortunately!) the apps are still shown in the service.  Except when I want to connect a metric...
