On premise gateway en PowerBI private endpoints

Hello,

In our organisation we would like te make Power BI service private through a Azure Private Link. We also want the Power BI service to be able to communicate with on premise sources. In the documentation of PowerBI with Azure Private Link i found the following remark:

• Gateways enabled for Power BI private endpoints will not work properly with non-Power BI scenarios. A potential workaround is to turn off Private Links, config the gateway, and then reenable the Private Links.

I don't fully understand this remark. Does it say that PowerBI private endpoint (through a private link) and on premise gateways don't work together? Or does it say that it will work, but only if you use the Power BI Service with the on prem gateway? Does "non powerbi scenarios" mean other services (Azure Analysis Service) cannot use the on prem gateway?

If its not working, what would be an alternative to make the Power BI Service private and still be able to access on prem sources?

Making the Powerbi platform available through ExpressRoute ms peering perhaps?

Any documentation on this perhaps?

There are a few considerations to keep in mind while working with private endpoints in Power BI:

• Gateways enabled for Power BI private endpoints will not work properly with non-Power BI scenarios. A potential workaround is to turn off Private Links, config the gateway, and then reenable the Private Links.

• When private links are enabled for Power BI, an on-premises data gateway (personal mode) will fail to register.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. But i am still trying to understand the remark. Do private endpoints and on prem gateway work together? The community answer looks te say no. But thats not what the remarks says, is it? Also, whats a non-powerbi scenario?
