ODBC Gateway connection issue

Hi ,

Currently, I am trying to establish an ODBC connection from power bi service to my on-prem gateway. I currently have it working on my personal gateway (on my personal laptop ) but when attempting to add the data source to the "on-prem" gateway I get the following error.

Error:

Unable to create connection for the following reason: Unable to connect to the data source. Either the data source is inaccessible, a connection timeout occurred, or the data source credentials are invalid. Please verify the data source configuration and contact a data source administrator to troubleshoot this issue

Things I have checked, I have ensured that the server has the appropriate 64 bit driver on the machine for the ODBC. I have run a port test on the "on-prem" gateway.

The interesting thing is when I use false credentials, the error message is a lot more clear and states that the "credentials are invalid". Meaning once I input the correct ones I get an error that is not specific at all as seen above. I have also attempted all credential methods and I have also attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the gateway.

Do I just turn on "additional logging" and explore the dense file to find something wrong?

Hi @Jjss22 ,

Please make sure that the data source settings in the Power BI Service match the configuration of the ODBC DSN (Data Source Name) on the gateway server.

Check if the gateway service is running under an account that has the necessary permissions to access the data source.

Best regards.

Hi @Jjss22

Did you add the connection to the Gateway?
