New column in excel not showing in dataset after data refresh

Hi all,

I have a published pbix file connected to an excel sharepoint file.

I have added a new column in my excel spreadsheet.

The new column has not reflected in my dataset.

I have refreshed my dataset multiple times. What is the issue?

Please see screenshots below.

Hi @christianadaa ,

Different from the refreshing behavior on the desktop, the published dataset only refreshes the loaded fields and tables. To add new fields, you need to refresh and republish on the desktop.

Thank you @v-cgao-msft. Greatly appreciated. This helps. All my data is null in power bi desktop when i download my published file so I am afraid to re-publish before fixing this issue.

I have found the applied step that may be causing this. Please see below. Can you help with this?

Applied step - data is showing up fine in power query

Applied step - all data is 'null' from this step onwards

Hi @christianadaa ,

Not sure, please select a column to filter, is there more than one value? I'm guessing that the values at the top of the table sorted this way are all 'null'.

Thank you for your quick response @v-cgao-msft.

Below is what shows up when applying a filter to the column. It is the same for every column.

Hi @christianadaa

It is recommended that you close this thread and open a new one in the Power Query forum, explaining the problem and attaching all the code from the Advanced Editor (taking care to hide private information, such as data source information).
