Mass filter showing differently in published online version and no longer working

I have a number of mass filters in my desktop version to filter article numbers, which up until recently were working fine in the online published version. Now the online version looks different, having 2 filter icons instead of the original one, and no longer appears to work; when you click the filter plus icon it just clears any articles you have pasted into it.  I republished this yesterday.

Is there a way to fix this?

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi, the issue seems to be that the online version had updated the visuals, but my desktop version has been a bit slow to join the party. This now seems to have resolved itself and both are showing the same version of the visual.

As a quick fix, i had to edit the online version by re-adding the data into the filter.

Hi @natty_jwilliams ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
We have tried using mass filter and publishing it. we are able to see the filter in both online service and in the desktop. Please find the screenshots below:

Please try the below steps and hopefully one of them gets things back on track! Let me know how it goes.

  • Sometimes the browser cache can cause display issues. Try clearing your cache or opening the report in an incognito window. Press `Ctrl + F5` for a hard refresh.
  • Ensure the field you're using in the filter is still correctly set up as a Text or Categorical field. If the data model changed, it might have affected how the filter works.
  • Go to the online version, open the Filter Pane, and check if the field you're using is still available. Sometimes fields can become disconnected when republishing. Try adding it back to the filter and see if it works.
  • If you suspect the publish may not have gone smoothly, try deleting the report from Power BI Service and republishing it from Power BI Desktop.
  • Just to rule out browser-specific issues, try accessing the report using another browser or log in with a different account.
  • If nothing else works, remove the current filter, add a fresh one using the same field, and republish the report. This often resolves any lingering issues.
