Hi team,
Is there any way of connecting the MYSQL database with Power BI web application without involving desktop application.
Your help will be really appreciated.
Basically @GilbertQ you are saying there is no way of connecting the cloud database directly to the Power BI service (power BI web application) you need to go through on premsis gateway or desktop application. Correct me if I am wrong. Because my organization needs a web application that has nothing to do with the desktop app because it's a limitation. I have data present on my dedicated server that can easily be transferred to power BI desktop app. But we are looking for independant application that works without any dependany is it possible right now in power BI web application or not?
Hi @Alexj1
Yes the only cloud services supported without a gateway are the Azure services, anything else will require a Gateway.
With Fabric you can now create a dataset in the Power BI Service, which will require Fabric compute capacity
Hi @Alexj1
As far as I know this is currently not possible.
You could use Dataflows to connect to the MySQL Database (It might need a gateway) and then you could use this dataflow in your Power BI report?
GilbertQ can you please explain further what you mean by gateway? Gateway will be initiated from my system to reach out to server?
Hi @Alexj1
You would need to install and configure the Power BI Gateway to connect to your mySql Database to refresh the data.
