Lifecycle Management that Works

Hello,

I would like to start is discussion and gatter thoughts/ideas from others on hwo they do deployments in PowerBI.

First our landscape. We have 3 environments Dev, UAT and Prod.

At this moment still DataSets are created by Data-Solution-Architects, they also distribute their 'reports' From Dev to UAT and Prod.

Report Creators have own workspaces in which ther use these DataSets, of course they also have different versions of the reports.

All this makes it quite some work, maitenance and administration to achieve this.

Pbi launched Pipelines, I thought yes we are saved but ... When working with DataSets we cannot change the Workspace-Name in a deployment by Rules, so blocked.

We triend to build a solution with DataFlows, not yet available as publish. (The idea is still 'planned' after more then 1 year)

Bottom line, I think that our far-to-complicated way of working is the only posible way.

Now I hope to get a reply that I'm wrong.....

Kr, Harry

Hey @LeboeufHarry ,

maybe you should take a look at Azure DevOps.

@marclelijveld did a great article on how to that:

Versioning and CI/CD for Power BI with Azure DevOps – Data – Marc (data-marc.com)

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍

Best regards
Denis
