License needed for Dataflow Gen2?

As the title suggests. What license or capacity do i need at minimum for dataflow gen2? I read somewhere on this forum F64, but i cannot find it in any documentation. Will F2 be enough to?

Hi @SearchKnowledge ,

You can use Dataflow Gen2 with an F2 Fabric capacity in regions that support it, but all users will need Power BI Pro or PPU licenses to access the dataflows and related reports. If you want to allow free users to access Power BI content, you’ll need at least an F64 capacity.

Region support may vary, so always check if your region allows Dataflow Gen2 on F2. In summary: F2 works for Gen2 if your region supports it, but F64 is required for broader access and free-user sharing.

Thank you so much, we use it for our customers in "The Netherlands", where can i see if the F2 capacity supports Gen2 dataflows there?

Hi @SearchKnowledge ,

While F2 is your capacity, you would also need developer license to create items, i.e Power BI Pro or Power BI Free license would suffice.

If this post helps, please accept this as a solution. Appreciate your kudos.

Thanks,

Pallavi

A "license"  is something a developer needs to create or manage artifacts (usually a Pro License)

A "capacity"  is a subscription or reservation that you have to purchase to store the artifacts

Those are separate things. You need both if you want to create a DF Gen2 on a F2 capacity.

An F2 license is sufficient. Whether or not that's enough compute is a separate question and depends on your specific data and tranformation logic.
