Keeping Power BI Matrix Expanded

Thales Berti I have one field parameter for dimensions (columns) and another for values. Whenever I add columns to the matrix table, it collapses. I would like to maintain the matrix table expanded at all times during its usage.

Additionally, changing the layout to tabular does not resolve the issue, and the option to turn off Stepped Layout no longer exists.

How can I resolve this issue?

We really apologies for the inconvenience, after reviewing the issue of keeping power bi matrix expanded, here are few steps to may resolve the issue.

Yes, it is possible to keep a Power BI matrix expanded by default. However, power bi does not provide a built-in always expanded option for the matrix visual.

• In the matrix visual, you can manually expand all levels by right clicking on the row headers and selecting expand all or expand to next level.
• If you are using field parameters for dimensions and values, ensure that the parameters are correctly set up to maintain the expanded state. You might need to adjust the Dax expressions used in the field parameters to ensure they do not reset the expanded state.
• Create a bookmark in power bi that captures the expanded state of the matrix. You can then use this bookmark to return to the expanded state whenever needed.
• To create a bookmark, expand the matrix to the desired state. Go to the view tab and select bookmarks. Click add to create a new bookmark and name it appropriately, e.g., Matrix Expanded.
• Ensure that the matrix settings are configured to maintain the expanded state. Check the row headers and column headers settings in the format pane to ensure they are set to display all levels.
• If the built-in matrix visual does not meet your requirements, consider using a custom visual from the power bi marketplace. Some custom visuals offer more flexibility and features that might help maintain the expanded state.
• If you are experiencing this issue in the power bi service, ensure that the report is published with the matrix in the expanded state. Sometimes, the state might reset when publishing, so double check after publishing.

Click on Layout and style Preset, and change the layout to Tabular.
