Issues refreshing my report with standard gateway DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_MashupDataAccessEr

Hello everyone, I have issues refreshing my report on app.powerbi.com. On the Desktop version I never faced any diifculties in refreshing my report. I did some research and think that it has something to do with my privacy setting. I am new to Power BI. I get this error message (see below), eventhough all privcay settings are on organisation. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My report is connected with correct gateway and the gateway is active

The data privacy of my gateway is set on organisational

The data privacy setting of my report is also set on organisation

Hello @hish,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Since your report refreshes successfully in Power BI Desktop but fails in the service despite correct gateway and privacy settings, it’s likely related to data source compatibility or configuration.

I’ve investigated similar cases and found some relevant discussions in the Microsoft Fabric Community that might help:

  • Thread 1 suggests rebooting the server hosting the data source or gateway, which could resolve connectivity issues.
  • Thread 2 points to checking for data model or schema inconsistencies, especially with the edgemaking_state.accdb file.
  • Thread 3 recommends verifying gateway settings and driver compatibility, which might apply if there’s a format mismatch.

I suggest you review these solved threads and try the following:

  • Ensure the edgemaking_state.accdb file is accessible and not corrupted.
  • Check the gateway logs and consider a reboot if needed.
  • Verify the database schema and privacy settings in Power Query Editor.
  • Confirm the gateway configuration matches the data source requirements.

Thank you, @lbendlin & @wardy912 for sharing valuable insights.

You are using an Access database as a data source. Highly not recommended.  You need to install extra 32 bit drivers on the gateway VMs.

Hi @hish

I've encountered this error when trying to use on prem and cloud sources over the on prem gateway.

If there are any cloud tables (sharepoint, fabric lakehouse etc) remove them from the on prem gateway and use cloud connections.
