Issue with Smart Filter Pro by OKVIZ after OneDrive Refresh - Error: Visual is no longer available

Hi Team,

We are using the 'Smart Filter Pro by OKVIZ' custom visual (organizational visual) in our Power BI reports, primarily to filter visuals using a list of categories (example: Material-ID). Everything works perfectly when testing in Power BI Desktop.

However, after publishing the report to the Power BI Service via OneDrive refresh, we consistently encounter the following error for the visual:

PNA_123_2-1750250354830.png

Error: This visual is no longer available. Please contact your administrator for details.
This error appears only after a OneDrive refresh.

It works after a workaround but not feasible in long term:

To fix the issue temporarily, I have to:

  1. Go to the report in the Power BI workspace.

  2. Edit the report and reinsert the Smart Filter Pro visual.

  3. Save and publish again.

After this manual intervention, the visual works again – but the error returns after the next OneDrive refresh. As you can imagine, this is not a scalable or acceptable approach for regular refresh cycles.

Additional Information:

  • Visual Name: Smart Filter Pro - New

  • Publisher: OKVIZ

  • Version: 2.3.5.0

  • Mode: Filter

  • License Status: Active

  • Deployment: Organizational Visuals

  • Publishing/Refresh Method: Linked OneDrive report (auto-refresh)

Has anyone faced a similar issue with Smart Filter Pro or other certified custom visuals after OneDrive refresh?

Is there a permanent fix or recommended configuration to avoid this error?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi PNA_123,

We appreciate your inquiry raised through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

From our understanding, the error message "This visual is no longer available" appears only after a OneDrive refresh. This suggests that Power BI Service encounters difficulty in resolving the custom visual reference during automatic refresh or while loading. This issue typically arises in certain cases involving organizational visuals hosted on OneDrive, particularly when there is a version mismatch of the visual, when the visual metadata does not load correctly post-refresh, or when the browser or Power BI Service cache does not refresh the visual reference appropriately.

Kindly follow the workaround steps outlined below, which may help to resolve the issue:

  1. Re-publish the report directly from Power BI Desktop instead of depending on OneDrive auto-refresh. This ensures that the visual metadata is embedded more reliably.
  2. Reinstall Smart Filter Pro through AppSource in Power BI Desktop and then republish the report. This can resolve potential conflicts related to versioning or metadata.
  3. If you are using DirectQuery, kindly consider switching to Import mode temporarily to verify whether the issue is related to query mode or refresh latency.
  4. Alternatively, if your feature requirements can be met, consider using Power BI’s native slicer for filtering.

If the issue persists despite applying these steps, we recommend reaching out directly to OKVIZ with details of your environment. Since this visual is managed by OKVIZ, they are best positioned to provide deeper insights or any necessary patch updates.

If you find our response helpful, we kindly request you to mark it as the accepted solution and provide kudos. This will assist other members of the community who face similar issues.

Should you have any further queries, please feel free to contact the Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you.

Hi @v-pnaroju-msft appreciate your responce.

I contacted with the OKVIZ support team via their github support platform. According to them, the problem is related to loading the visual from the Org Store + deployment via OneDrive and Microsoft team need to investigate further.

However, I followed the workaround; re-installed latest version of Smart Filter Pro through the AppSource (instead of the Org Store), and it works.
