I have been trying to look into this issue for awhile but unfortunately haven't found anything.
Everytime I've attempted to upload a PBIX to service, where the PBIX is using a shared dataset, I get the following error:
This happens regardless of the dataset being available in the workspace. I was wondering if it was possible to be able to upload this content without the use of Power BI Desktop, in order to make it easier for our customers without needing to download software and worry about versioning.

Hi. As long as we are talking about the same tenant, you can. First of all there is a setting at admin portal -> tenant settings to allow this:
Once that's allowed, you need build permission to the shared dataset in order to connect to it and publish the report to a different workspace.

Thank you for answering! Unfortunately we use different tenants when deploying to customer environments, however it's useful to know it's allowed if it's the same tenant. Will mark this as resolved.
