Invalid Credentials When Using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 using dataflows in the Service

I am able to connect to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 using the connector in Power BI Desktop. However, when I try to use dataflows in the service, I get an Invalid credentials error. I'm using the same link and credentials that worked in Power BI Desktop. Anyone know what's going on here?

Hi,

I am seeing the same error when i try to connect Data Lake for Data Flow. I checked the storage account and seems to have all required things. Do you  have any idea about i may be missing to do inorder to connect DataLake for DataFlow. Please advise.

Thank you for the reply Winniz - It isn't clear yet - The customer thinks it's a permission issue. Other priorities have risen.I will let you know if it was one of the above mentioned reasons.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please check if you meet the following conditions:

  • To bring your own ADLS Gen 2 account, you must have owner permissions at the storage account layer. Permissions at the resource group or subscription level will not work. If you are an administrator, you still must assign yourself owner permission. Currently not supporting ADLS Gen2 Storage Accounts behind a firewall.
  • The storage account must be created with the Hierarchical Namespace (HNS) enabled.
  • The storage account must be created in the same Azure Active Directory tenant as the Power BI tenant.
  • TLS (Transport Layer Security) version 1.2 (or higher) is required to secure your endpoints. Web browsers and other client applications that use TLS versions earlier than TLS 1.2 won't be able to connect.
  • Attaching a dataflow with ADLS Gen 2 behind multi-factor authentication (MFA) is not supported.

I believe this response is not relevant as it speaks to using ADLS as a storage account for dataflows, rather than simply connecting a dataflow to an ADLS source. I'm having the same issue where I can connect to a dataflow from Power BI Desktop but get invalid credentials when using Power Query online (dataflow).

Hi v-kkf-msft

Are you saying that there is no way to connect to Gen2 storage (if there is a firewall configured)? My Infosec team is not going to ever remove the firewall for obvious reasons which seems make connecting to Gen2 storage impossible ?

Currently we have a Datafactory instance configured as an override and I hoping to add the PowerPlatform override but from what you say this is not possible ?
