Inconsistent Navigation Panel Resizing in Published App

Hi everyone,

I'm running into an issue with the navigation panel in a Microsoft Fabric workspace app related to expanding the panel.

When report names are long (up to 70 characters), it's normal for them to be truncated in the navigation panel – this is expected and understandable. However, the problem arises when trying to expand the panel to view more of the report name:

  • I'm using the drag method – clicking and dragging the edge of the navigation panel.

  • The expansion behavior is inconsistent. Unless I drag very slowly and follow the edge precisely, the panel either doesn’t resize smoothly or fails to respond.

This makes it difficult and frustrating to reliably adjust the panel width, especially for end users trying to view longer report titles.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior or found a workaround? I would also appreciate any insights into whether this is a known issue or something Microsoft is planning to address.

Thanks!

Hi @DataWeaver

But I would highly recommend is changing the report names because a 70 character long report name will make it very difficult for the end users to identify which report to use It might be better to group the reports into sections which will then allow you to make the report named shorter.

With regards to the expansion behavior, this is not something that I had seen or worked with. If it is not working as expected, I would suggest creating or voting for an idea here. https://aka.ms/FabricIdeas

Hi @DataWeaver ,
Yes it is a known issue and Microsoft has acknowledged this internally.
Improvements to Fabric Apps navigation behavior are on Microsoft's Fabric Roadmap for 2025.
You can keep the name of your report short as a workaround.
Additionally, you can also vote for the idea here.
Hope this helps!
