'Included In App' Toggle Greyed Out

I have two workspaces in Power BI service that are acting differently.

In one, the 'Include in App' toggle is greyed out and unavailable. In the other, it is available.

I understand that the update from 8/24/22 would cause the toggle to be removed:

My question then is, can two workspaces have different settings that would explain why one of my workspaces still shows the toggle? If so, is there a way to revert the workspace that has the toggle disabled so that it would be functional again?

Hi @ddavenport

The reason one of your workspaces is still showing the "Included in app" toggle is that it hasn't been updated to the latest version of the Power BI service.

The 8/24/22 update introduces a new feature called Multiple Audiences for Power BI Apps, which allows you to create different audience groups within the same application and assign different permissions to each group .

This feature replaces the "Include in Application" switch, which is now deprecated and will be removed in the future.

To use the new feature, you need to update your app and follow these steps:

Click Update App. This will open a page with three tabs: Setup, Content, and Audience.

Click Content tab. Click Add Content. Select the workspace you would need to add or remove content from the app.

The app author can also change the order of the content artifacts in the app and rename them if needed.

Click Audience tab. Make sure your new added content is unhidden, by default this would be hidden. You can also create different audience groups and assign them different permissions to access the content in the app.

Click Update the app.

Share the app with the app consumers.

Publish an app in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

I hope this helps you understand how to use the new feature and update your workspaces.
