Implementing Dynamic RLS based on logged in user email

Hello all,

I need help while implementing DYNAMIC RLS. I want to filter data for user logged in and tried to implement it.

When I click on "View as role" and select role name (in my case role name is "Dynamic RLS") - I am able to see exact data.
But the issue comesup when I enter an email in "View as Roles -> Other User". It is not filtering the dataset and all data is displayed.

Image is attached with details.

Can someone please advise.Dynamic RLS.JPG

Hi @Anonymous

We configure RLS in Desktop and manage RLS in Service .After you configuring RLS and publishing the report to Service , you need grant roles to users in dataset => open menu=>Security .

Add users account in the role and then test as a role .

Thanks, Ailsa.. This is exactly what I have done. I was trying to add Group email ID to the member's list. It was not working earlier but is working now. Don't know where the issue was but it is working now.

Apart from adding "name@gmail.com" in the box for Other User, you also need to check "Dynamic RLS" for it to apply the role to the Other User. Have you tried that?

Yes I did that but I found the issue, it was with group email address I was trying to add in Power BI Service.
