Hello everyone,
I was wondering about the Impact a change from Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) to Power BI Service (PBIS) would have on the Internet connection.
Imagine, that around 90% of the Reports are connected to an on-prem Analysis service. If I then would like to change from the on-prem (PBIRS) Report Server in the same Network to the cloud Version (PBIS) what would be the impact on my network?
Best Regards
Lars
Hi @Anonymous ,
This will put a heavy load on your network, because the local data source needs a gateway in PBIS, which is not available in PBIRS,
which will have some impact on the network during operations such as report refresh, and the larger the proportion of local data sources, the greater the impact.
For more different between PBIRS and PBIS, you can refer this documentation: Comparing Power BI Report Server and the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the quick answer, but I knew that there would be an impact but I would like to know how to calculate the impact.
Do you have any examples eg. example numbers for me?
What would be the impact on a 1 GB, 5GB, 20GB, or 100GB Analysis Service size?
