How to sort a "complex" matrix by the columns?

Dear gents,

for some specific reasons I have in the service a matrix with columns and values as the one below.

Sorting on the totals by each value is no problem.

Is it possible to sort in this configuration, as an example by Finland decreasing sales?

Tried selecting specifically a column, looking in the ellipses to sort, even clicking on Shift or Ctrl, but apparently nothing provides what I want/need... It always sort based on Totals...

Has someone a tip?

Hi @marcl1 ,

According to your description, here are my steps you can follow as a solution.

(1) This is my test data.

(2) Click "transform data" to go to the power query, sort the [sales] column in descending order, then add the index column, and finally click "close and apply".

(3) Select the [total sales] column to sort by the index column.

You can create indexed columns as you see fit and then use sort by column.

Thx for your proposal, but it requires a static change in the query editor (my fact table behind has 150 million lines). Furthermore, the Finland case was only an example and even sorting by Country is not so obvious when it is a field of a Dimension Table and the sortiment can be done on so many fields...

Hi @marcl1 ,

Unfortunately, as @Brunner_BI  said, this is not possible.

If you would like to suggest  feature improvements, you may vote the idea and comment here to improve this feature. It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

Thx for the answer, there is already such an idea opened since 2017... so my hopes are quite limited!

As far as I know it is just not possible and we can only sort e.g. also based on two columns in a normal table visual...
