How to open the Web URL link of the Live report page in the same browser window in the Services ?

Hi All,

I have created a dashboard by pinning two live report tiles. By Clicking on any one of those live report pages, it is taking me to new browser window to open that report. But my requirement is to open that live report page in the same window. I dont want it to get opened in the new window.

Is there any way to open the live report page in the same existing browser window ?

Please let me know if it is possible.

Thanks in advance!!

HI @Madhumitha_V

How are you linking the Dashboard tile to the Report?

If you pin a "Live page" you cannot click on it to go to the Report, you have to click on the three dots at the top and select "go to report", but for me that opens in the same page.  Only if the live report has links on the page pinned, clicking on those links in the live page on the Dashboard opens that link on another page, thats a really ugly method of linking between reports, and I thin k will always open in a new page.

Why don't you pin an individual visualisation to the Dashboard?, that's the best way to work with Dashboards. In that case the default operation is that clicking on a Dashboard tile will open the Report the tile was pinned from. This is opened in the same browser window.

The other methods of "Drill Through" and building Navigation in an app will also work, but the simplest method is not to use a live tile on the Dashboard.

Hope this helps

Stuart

If you edit the tile (click on the three dots at the top of the tile, then select "Edit Details") you can set a "Custom Link".

This can be a Dashboard or Report in the Current Workspace in which case it will open in the same browser window.

However if you select External Link you can enter any working URL. This External Link has the option "Open custom link in the same tab?" which will either open in another window, or open in the same window.

So on a Dashboard you can control the HTML "target", a bit.

Hi @Madhumitha_V ,

Try drill through as an alternative.

Merging dashboards and reports into one app and using navigation may also meet some of your needs.

Not currently possible to influence the target attribute of the generated HTML. Maybe raise it as an idea?
